Happy New Year!!!

What a year 2010 has been for the Davis foursome! I wanted to bring in the new year by recapping the previous year. It has been memorable. Our biggest events were buying a new home (which we absolutely love and the boys have plenty of room in), Christopher Alton turned one year old and Carson started middle school.

Carson is growing into such a young man. He just turned 11 on December 30. We are so proud of him. He is currently a 5th grader at Pioneer Ridge Middle School. He is a straight A student and is in his 3rd year of the gifted program. He's in both advanced math and reading, but loves science and social studies. He plays football, and off and on with basketball, but his favorite is baseball. He loves it! Jeff has coached his team since T-ball, and he enjoys it just as much as Carson. Carson usually plays catcher, but also pitches and occasionally is thrown at other positions. For Christmas, Carson got an electric guitar which he is super excited about. He will be gradually transitioning to playing that. But, he's been playing guitar for almost 2 years (in February). It is amazing at how far he's come and his teacher says he's one of the best sight readers he's ever seen. It is such a gift he has. He participated in the KS junior pickers and singing competition in April. While he didn't place in guitar (older and more experienced players), he did place 3rd in singing. He's very good at performing- also was the lead in the 5th/6th grade musicial in the Fall. When he's not busy with all of that, he loves to read and is a wonderful big brother for Cal.

Cal is almost 17 months now. I can't believe he's growing so fast! He is such a special boy. I must say, Carson did not prepare me well for him. He is the most mobile child I've ever seen- nonstop from the time he wakes until bedtime. Much like Jeff, from what I hear. Usually doesn't want to stop even to eat or get his diaper changed...just "Go Go Go"- which is his favorite thing to say. He's talking more and more everyday. He can do a bunch of his animal noises now and here are all the words he says, Daddy, Mommy, bye, doggie, ball, go, boo, yea, cheese, please, tree, football, banana, bro, tickle tickle, more, Wiggles, choo choo, circle, school, and Buzz. He's such a monkey and loves to climb on anything and everything! He also loves books and trucks of any size, and he likes to watch football, the Wiggles, and Toy Story 3. He definitely keeps us busy though, he's clever and his curiosity is fun to watch=)

As for Jeff and I, we have just kept busy with work and our family. Jeff is the Global Supply Chain Manager at Winning Streak Sports and has been there for 11 years now. He loves being involved in the sports industry, and I've always told him that if he decides to change careers he should become a coach or sports broadcaster. He'd be perfect at either and just has so much knowledge and passion for sports, it's amazing. I am so lucky to have him, he's a wonderful husband and father. I have been at Garmin for 2 1/2 years now. I am a New Product Introduction Coordinator, basically a Project Manager for all the new products that my company launches. It's a challenging job at times, but I enjoy it and the people I work with. In our free time (what little there is), we enjoy watching sports, going to Chiefs games, movies, dinners out, and hanging out with friends.

That is the heart of who we are and what we've been up to the past year. We hope that 2011 brings happiness, love, laughter, good health and fortune to all of our family and friends. Thank you for being a part of our lives. We are so blessed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with my stepdad, Dave and his family as they mourn the loss of his father. Also, my nana who's in the hospital after a stroke. And, Jeff's Uncle Lynn. You are all near and dear to our hearts.
